# Masonry Restoration: Facade, Restabilization & Veneer Reanchoring
Using his twenty years of experience dealing with the restoration and rehabilitation of masonry and stone buildings, Mr. Stephen Getz will discuss and present the symptoms, causes and cures of veneer anchoring failures. Case studies will be presented to supplement the presentation. Included will be a review of various re-anchoring systems to stabilize existing masonry and stone veneers. In addition, a design procedure will be given which illustrates a process to correct unstable veneer situations.

# What to Expect from the New IBC
In the year 2000, the new International Building Code will be taking effect, replacing the National Building Code, the Uniform Building Code and the Standard Building Code. While the new code will foster national unity in the construction industry, how will it affect the masonry industry? More importantly, how will the new code affect you? This presentation will answer those questions as John Chrysler, P.E., member of the Masonry Alliance for Codes and Standards, explains why the International Building Code is needed and what changes mason contractors can expect from it.

# Turnover Turmoil (And the Effect of Morale on Employee Longevity)
Employee turnover is a real, tangible and profit-depleting liability for any contractor - masonry contractors included. Though some turnover is natural, at other times, turnover is simply a result of poor worker morale. The good news? Morale can be controlled and improved! This seminar examines methods and programs that the everyday mason contractor/owner can economically employ to improve the morale of his/her own troops - and rein in escalating turnover rates.

# Wall Bracing
Last year's Wall Bracing seminar in Charlotte was such a success, we've decided to repeat it. The question of how masonry walls must be braced is a critical issue facing mason contractors. With vague OSHA terms such as "adequate" guiding mason contractors, the masonry industry and the Council for Masonry Wall Bracing has tackled this issue and has prepared a guideline of recommended wall bracing methods. In this workshop, Mario Catani, member of the Council for Masonry Wall Bracing, will present and discuss the new Masonry Wall Bracing guidelines.

# Building with the MSJC Code
Masonry codes and specifications impact every masonry project. Proper interpretation and compliance will result in a well-built project. Misinterpretation and non-compliance can result in cost overruns, loss of profits and future projects. This session will cover how to properly interpret these requirements and ensure compliance.
