which is a highly demanding volunteer position with regards to taking time away from running a masonry business. As President, you not only deal with the daily operation of the chapter, but you spend time with committee chairmen, association staff as well as issues and organizations outside of the association. OIn most cases, Presidents of associations are the liaison with other allied associations, requiring additional volunteer time away from the masonry business. In addition to serving as President, Procter is active on the Negotiating Committee and is active in both masonry promotion and recruitment by serving on the Masonry Institute of Tennessee, where he had served as President, as well as a Trustee on Local #4 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. Procter has not rested there, he remains active in mason recruitment by visiting area vocational programs, judging VICA mason contests, and serving the MCAA with his involvement on the Marketing Committee and acting as State Chairman.

Richard Lauber
For over 25 years, Dick Lauber has served the masonry industry with great pride and tireless energy. He has involved himself in all aspects of the industry. In fact, over the past nine years, he has increased his involvement by becoming the President of the MCA of Greater Chicago and serving on the Industry Wall Bracing Council which developed the new industry standard for bracing masonry walls under construction. Through his leadership, the MCAGC has become active in state legislative issues. He has served on numerous MCAA national committees as well as serving on the Illinois Masonry Institute Board which oversees local promotion in the greater Chicago area. Dick has also served for over 17 years on numerous safety and codes committees.

Doug Nichols
Taking on the major task of spearheading MCAA's Training Program, Doug Nichols is Chairman of the Training Committee which oversees the national association's mason training initiatives. He has served as

Chairman for the past 4 years. Nichols represents MCAA on the VICA (Vocational Industry Clubs of America) Masonry Committee. Nichols is currently President of the MCA of St. Louis. In addition, he serves on the chapter's Finance Committee as well as on the Joint Apprentice Fund Board in St. Louis. He has also been Chairman of the chapter's Membership Committee. Nichols is deeply committed to recruiting and training more young masons and has even set goals for his own company to train additional masons even if their own company doesn't have a present need.

Ronnie Thompson
Ronnie Thompson has deeply immersed himself in developing the industry's workforce. He established the Blue Ridge Masonry Association and its apprenticeship program in southwest Virginia and has been serving on the Apprenticeship Committee as its chairman for several years. To date, they are training 34 students in a three-year program. This program has been touted as one of the best programs in the state if not the nation.
