Adelizzi, Executive Director of the Mason Contractors Association of America, presented the Masonry Systems Promotional Campaign developed by the Masonry Industry Executive's Council, which includes MMCA Executive Director Michelle Notebaert. The membership was impressed by the proposed campaign, and the Board of Directors discussed the matter at their meeting in June.

The next scheduled event is the General Membership Meeting and Board of Director election Sept. 10-12, 2004 at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, Mich.

Texas
Due to a need to focus his efforts on his company, Ron Wickes resigned his post as President of the Texas Masonry Council (TMC). Jim Jones of Chemical Lime Co. has accepted the TMC Board of Directors nomination to fill the office of the President. Rob Barnes of Dee Brown, Inc., has been elected to fill the vacancy that Jones leaves as Secretary/Treasurer. The new officers will serve through September, when the TMC fiscal year ends and new officers will be elected.

On the education front, the TMC recently completed several workshops. The Texas A&M Masonry Workshop-a one-day program in the past that has been expanded to a four-week workshop-provided extensive learning for the architecture and engineering departments. Also, Masonry Days were held at the Texas A&M University at Kingsville and the University of Texas at Arlington.

The much publicized "Are You Building a School or a Liability" guide (see page 78 in the April issue) has sold out, and another print run has been scheduled. Individual copies of this informative guide may be purchased on the TMC web site at www.texasmasonrycouncil.org.

Last, but not least, the TMC Annual Convention will be held September 23-25 in San Antonio. Adding to the convention agenda is the Fastest Trowel competition for apprentices, the sixth annual Qualifying Masonry Skills Challenge for Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, and the Texas Golden Trowel Awards banquet.
