Sawottke joined the company as Controller and spent the last three years with the company as Vice President of Finance and Accounting. As CFO, he will oversee all finance, accounting and treasury activities for RSC Equipment Rental and Prime Energy.

Patricia D. Chiodo was elevated to Vice President and Controller of RSC taking over Sawottke's former position. She is now responsible for all accounting and accounts payable activities for RSC Equipment Rental and Prime Energy. Before this promotion, Chiodo worked as Controller for RSC and also held high-level finance positions with leading equipment and financial organizations.

Metabo Introduces 2005 Product Catalog

Metabo, an international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has published its 2005 Power Tools, Accessories and Abrasives Catalog. The full color, 102-page catalog covers Metabo's selection of drills, screwdrivers, reciprocating saws, jig saws, sanders, grinders, abrasives and accessories, including a full range of new products.

United Rentals Opens Contractor Supplies Distribution Center

United Rentals, Inc., North America's largest equipment rental company, announced the opening of its newest contractor supplies distribution center in Aurora, III. The 48,000-square-foot facility is the third of nine regional warehouses planned throughout the United States and Canada.

The new warehouse will stock 8,000 retail contractor supply line items, including saw blades, power tools and safety gear. "The center is integrated with the same information technology that links our more than 730 branches, giving our field sales force access to our state-of-the-art electronic ordering system," says Michael DeCata, Vice President - Fleet Operations for United Rentals. "Most customers who place orders before 5 pm. can expect overnight delivery of their supplies."

The Aurora center will fulfill customer orders placed through more than 100 United Rentals locations from Ohio to lowa, and Minnesota to Kentucky.

United Rentals opened two contractor supplies distribution centers in Atlanta and Middletown, Pa., in fall 2004. The company expects to stock 10,000 contractor supplies at each of its distribution centers by the end of 2005.

LBX Taps NationsRent as Florida Authorized Distributor

LBX Company, maker of Link-Belt equipment, is pleased to announce the appointment of NationsRent as the authorized distributor of Link-Belt equipment in the state of Florida.

NationsRent will provide full customer and product support in multiple locations in this region, and will offer a range of purchase and rental options for its customers. This appointment is effective immediately.

MCAA Board Meets to Revise Strategy

The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Executive Board, staff and key chapter members met in Napa, Calif., to review the Association's Long-range Strategic Plan, formally established nearly five years ago.

The meeting was led by facilitator Jean Frankel of Tecker Associates, who assisted the MCAA with the development of its first plan. The Board reviewed decisions that were made five years ago, the progress made toward achieving Association goals, and the changes needed to be made to the plan.

"It was rewarding to see the progress and accomplishments the Association has made in five years," says Industry News continued on page 46 MCAA Executive Director Michael Adelizzi. "We have gained significant influence in critical Association areas since we first developed the plan, which is what we set out to achieve."

The Board revised and expanded many areas of the plan, which will be made available for members to review.
