In all, more than 4,600 competitors participated in 80 hands-on SkillsUSA National Championship skill and leadership contests designed to promote the advancement of skilled labor. Bosch served as a main sponsor for the building-oriented TeamWorks competition, funded travel scholarships, title sponsored the opening ceremonies, and presented its Big Blue traveling road show. In all, the company donated more than $100,000 to this year's event.
Acme Brick Company Names President and Chief Executive Officer
Dennis Knautz has been named president and CEO of Fort Worth, Texas-based Acme Brick Company where he has been a key member of Acme's senior management for 22 years. He was promoted to vice president-finance in 1988, adding the title of chief financial officer in 2000. His direct responsibilities included not only accounting and financial activities, but also data processing and communications, real estate, acquisitions and long-range planning.
Knautz holds two degrees from Texas Christian University: a bachelor's in mathematics and a master's in business administration. He earned his CPA certificate in 1980. After receiving his MBA, Knautz worked in public transportation for six years with City Transit Service of Fort Worth (CITRAN); Boise (Idaho) Urban Stages, and McDonald Transit Associates.
Well known and respected among his peers, Knautz sits on the board of directors of the Brick Industry Association and chairs its Manufacturers Council. He is also current chairman of the South-Western Brick Council.
DITEQ Hires New President: Dan Steiner
DITEQ Diamond Tools & Equipment, manufacturer of diamond tools for construction, industrial and stone industry applications, announces the hiring of Dan Steiner as its president, effective June 2005.
Steiner comes to DITEQ with 31 years of sales and management experience in the diamond tool and equipment industry. He started his career in 1974 with the Robert G. Evans Company, which eventually became Target/Felker, and later Electrolux.
