MCAA, World of Masonry Join Forces
Recently, the MCAA Board of Directors has been discussing the Masonry Showcase, MCAA's annual convention and trade show, and evaluating the form it should take in the future. I am pleased to announce that, after reviewing the options, the board unanimously agreed to sell Masonry Showcase to Hanley Wood, owner of the annual World of Masonry trade show.
Hanley Wood currently owns and produces some of the most successful industry trade shows, and the MCAA Board of Directors felt selling the showcase was the best move for the association and its members. For the next five years, the MCAA will be the primary sponsor of the World of Masonry, which is held in conjunction with the World of Concrete. As an association, we are extremely excited to have the World of Masonry as the sole trade show focal point of the masonry industry.
The MCAA plans to bring the Fastest Trowel on the Block and the Masonry Skills Challenge to the World of Masonry show, along with other meetings and functions the MCAA typically would have at its convention. Attendees will be able to select from all of Hanley Wood's educational programs, as well as from MCAA's one- and two-day education programs, including the Foreman Development Course, Masonry Quality Institute (MQI), Basic Masonry Estimating, and the Codes and Standards seminars. All of these programs, in addition to the approved masonry and business-related topics offered by Hanley Wood, will be eligible for credit in the National Mason Contractor Certification Program. Simply look for the Masonry Certification symbol in the World of Masonry show directory.
We look forward to working with our new partner to create the premier masonry trade show, offering attendees an unprecedented return on their investments. The MCAA and our industry partners are planning to present several new and unique projects at the show that offer great opportunities for our entire industry. Look for more on this in future issues of Masonry magazine.
Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to see the future of the masonry industry rolled out for you. If you have never attended a masonry show, I strongly encourage you to attend the program in Las Vegas, Jan. 21 through 25. Mark it on your calendar today! The excitement surrounding this event will be contagious.
