Midwest Masonry
Promotion Council
Celebrates First Year

Members of the Midwest Masonry Promotion Council (MMPC) celebrated their first year as an organization at a membership recognition event in October in Bloomington, Minn. MMPC President Todd Frantz of Donald R. Frantz Concrete Construction Inc. presented framed membership plaques to representatives from each of the masonry contractor, producer and supply companies that have joined together to promote the benefits of unit masonry to area architects, engineers, construction managers and owners.

Green River Parkway Job to
be Completed This Month

In its largest East Coast project to date, Los Angeles-based Artisan Precast, a provider of precast concrete barrier solutions, will complete the construction of a wall bordering the Green River Parkway in Stuart, Fla., this month.

As indicated by the Florida contract, the company can provide full turnkey installation at any location across the continent; materials also can be shipped to the specified site for the customer to install. Clients can choose from a variety of fencing styles molded to resemble the warm looks of crafted wood or hand-laid brick or the rich appearance of real stacked ledge stone. All these fencing solutions are carefully engineered at NPCA-certified facilities, yet designed with an eye toward reducing carbon impact on the environment.

The Green River Parkway project also points up the durability of pre-cast concrete walls in the full scope of weather conditions. Artisan products are reinforced with steel and manufactured under optimally engineered conditions to provide consistent long-lasting quality. Since the color is integrated into the mix, no painting is required, and there will be no chipping, peeling or sun damage. The changing Florida sunlight will naturally enhance the FenceStone's textural definition for a stunning, authentic visual effect.

On the Green River Parkway, crews faced problems posed by Florida soil conditions that caused the footing to cave in repeatedly. Artisan has succeeded in solving these issues, allowing delivery on a February 2010 completion date. Highway walling is only one of myriad uses to which precast concrete solutions may be applied.
