Talbert Names Rothwell as Director, Business Development
Talbert Manufacturing has appointed industry veteran Gerald (Jerry) Rothwell as director of business development. This position is designed to create and expand markets for the Talbert trailer lines throughout North America. Rothwell brings more than 22 years of inside/outside sales and dealer development experience to Talbert. He began his career in the United States Navy and was the youngest person to graduate from Air Control School, which prepared him to attain a specialization in Anti-Submarine Air Control.
Manasquan Names Unick as Market Development Manager
Manasquan Premium Fasteners LLC has named Ryan Unick as the company's new market development manager. Unick's primary responsibilities include local and national market development, managing the company's marketing and social media campaigns and supervising product line expansions such as the pneumatic driven ballistic pin system for steel studs and concrete fastening. Prior to joining Manasquan, Unick served as the deck products specialist.
2012 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Regional Competition Schedule Released
SPEC MIX Inc. has announced the 2012 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Regional Competition Schedule. This series of 16 events taking place throughout North America draws the area's best masons, possessing the skill, speed and stamina required to battle for the chance to win a new FORD F-250 XLT 4X4 truck and nearly $100,000 in cash and prizes.
Providing the largest winner's purse of any masonry event, the winners of each Regional will go on to compete at the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 National Event in Las Vegas at the World of Concrete/World of Masonry trade show with more than 3,500 cheering spectators awaiting the answer to the question, "Who is the World's Best Bricklayer?"
The SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Regional work this way: Each team, consisting of a mason and a mason tender, will have 60 minutes to complete an approximately 26-foot, double-wythe brick wall within a defined work area while meeting strict quality standards. The winner of each regional competition will advance on to the National Event in February 2013.
Award places are based on the highest brick counts meeting the quality standards and competition rules. The SPEC MIX TOP CRAFTSMAN Award is judged as the most sellable wall meeting a qualifying brick count. This award is the second-most coveted award at the event, yet, for some, winning the SPEC MIX TOP CRAFTSMAN award is the main goal, and has the second-highest award purse at the national event.

SFAA, U.S. DOT Bonding Program Helps Contractors
Since the July 2010 inception of the Bonding Education Program, a joint effort of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and The Surety & Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), hundreds of small, women and minority contractors have completed the workshops and many have obtained bonding or are set to receive.
