Report of the MCAA Membership Committee

Words: Brian Carney, Justin Breithaupt, Todd Williams, Barry Clements, Guy Tedesco, Bruce Sieling, Gregg SchuermanAs Chairman of the MCAA Membership Committee, I would like to submit the following report to the Board outlining the committee’s activities since the Mid-Year meeting in Boston. But before I report the progress, I would like to recognize the members of the committee. They are: Gregg Schuerman, Bruce Sieling, Todd Williams, Guy Tedesco, Barry Clements, Justin Breithaupt and Brian Carney.

The Membership Committee has had a very busy six months since we last reported.

Membership Renewals
Renewals for the 2002-2003 budget year have exceeded what was budgeted. The renewal rate was on target despite the increase in member dues. The budgeted number does not account for the increase that the board passed. Therefore the true budgeted number is $100,000 more than what is listed. The actual number is $462,838.00 and the revised budgeted number is $459,000.00.

New Member Drive
This Spring will see another push for new members currently, our budget for new members is low. The committee plans on offering a program for recruiting both local associates and new contract members. We will be patterning our contractor drive after last year’s very successful Magnificent 47 program.

Membership Directory
The Membership Directory has been completed and delivered to all members. The directory has undergone a huge change in format. The state by state section is now more of a reference area and does not list all information for contractors. Also added this year at the request of the board was the listing of contractor size.

Web-site
The committee has been working with the Education Committee to completely redesign the MCAA web-site including the member’s only access. The Education Committee Chair will do a thorough presentation at the board meeting with regards to the changes.

Member Services
The committee is proud to now offer more discounted shipping programs through Yellow Emery, and Roadway Express. Members can now sign-up for MCAA member discounts and save up to 50% on shipments.

On-Line Newsletter
The committee is currently looking into the development of a new on-line newsletter delivered to MCAA members bi-monthly. This newsletter would provide an update for members on all MCAA activities. Currently the MCAA has 475 member e-mail addresses. Members without e-mail addresses will have the Newsletter faxed to them and will be given an opportunity to send the MCAA their e-mail address for future issues.

Mr. President, Officers and members, thank you for the privilege of serving as the Chairman of the MCAA Membership Committee. That is my report.
