Moses Sculpture Installed at Bonsal
Entering the lobby court of the new W.R. Bonsal building in Charlotte, N.C., visitors often stop and stare in amazement. Strikingly displayed along three walls are large, dramatic original bas-relief sculptures that tell the story of the Biblical patriarch. The sculptor, Alice Proctor of Raleigh. N.C., worked for more than year on the 11 panels, each 62% in. high, which together weigh well over a ton. The series takes Moses from the baby discovered in the bullrushes through the Israeli exodus, including his reception of the Ten Commandments, to his viewing of the promised land shortly before his death.
