Marketing Process Improvement
What can your firm do to turn your productivity initiative into headlines?
An effective story must be told in terms of customer benefits. Keep the self-congratulations internal; keep the results external. For example, talk about your advances from the customer's perspective: "customers gained this... faster delivery means... fewer change orders cause..."
Translate these benefits into concrete, recognizable, and real-world examples. Use case studies, project profiles, testimonials, and data on key performance indicators. Help your customers visualize these accomplishments with bar charts, pie graphs, and photos of the project and people.
Tie in with your internal program through employee success stories, team profiles, employee photos. To put harder edges on process improvement, conduct post-job surveys of client satisfaction and publicize the results. Do the same with employee satisfaction surveys.
Once you have the story, use all available channels of communication:
Initiate a 12-month program of quality-related media releases.
Implement database marketing programs aimed at customers, prospects, and influencers.
Prepare a special issue of your company newsletter to identify your achievements.
Include awards or certification in your advertisements, collateral, business forms, and stationery.
Measure the Effect of Your Promotions
The most common and costly mistake made by contractors is failing to measure the effect of their program.
