George & Asmussen Build Expo Exhibit

The Brewers' Association of Canada is erecting uniquely designed scary buildings for Canada's world exhibition, Expo '67, opening in Montreal next year. The Pavilion feature is a number of circular buildings including a bar-restaurant with an outdoor service terrace. Others contain exhibit space and a miniature theatre. A special concrete block unit was designed particularly for these building in the shape of a half moon called "Lunar" block by the architects of the project, Fairfield & Dubois, Toronto. To insure proper reinforcing of the wall, Dur-O-wal, Ltd., of Canada, designed and manufactured special curved truss design reinforcing. The special half moon concrete masonry units are supplied by the Iroquois Division of General Concrete, Ltd., and the masonry contractors on the job are George & Asmussen, Ltd., MCAA Members.

A unique curved concrete block unit collec "Lunar" block, by the project architects, will be used in the Brewers' Association Pavilion. The units are being supplied by the Iroquois Division of General Concrete.

Special curved reinforcing units for the Brewers' Pavilion were designed and manufactured by Dur-O-wal of Canada, Ltd.

Education Committee Chairman Robert Harrison has announced that the Association is in the final planning stages of several more courses in the Management Institute program and information regarding them will be released to all MCAA Chapters.
