As for point number two, the natural brick finish inside and out eliminates furring, lathing, plastering, painting, etc.; and the insulated brick wall provides good heating economy at very low cost. Thus in a sense, the exterior walls were "pre-finished." Same for the mortar-less brick flooring used throughout.

Brick Value House is quite a deal... for the owner and the mason-builder. It could be just the ticket for the mason contractor to offer a product instead of merely selling a service.

About The Author

H. B. Foster, dynamic Secretary and General Manager of the Brick & Tile Service. Inc., Greensboro, N.C., has served as Managing Editor of Ceramic Industry and Brick & Clay Record magazines. He is a graduate of North Carolina State College, Raleigh, with a degree in Ceramic Engineering. In addition, Mr. Foster is a registered Professional Engineer. He served in the Navy during World War II and upon his return entered the clay products field again as sales manager for a large producer in the southeast. Leaving this position he joined the Brick & Tile Service and has given it progressive leadership.
