This is a big building handled in masterly fashion in an equally big way. The masonry construction embodies all the best practices of the art with careful attention to construction joints, weep holes, blending of bricks and jointing. The interior and exterior are of equally high caliber.
Particularly successful is the area framing the great chimney at all times a difficult element to integrate in the total form of a building. The strong entrance with its wide directional steps is given additional emphasis by the overhang of the upper stories. The overhang was skillfully developed for the mechanical requirements of the ventilating system.
