for a variety of purposes besides exterior walls. Partitions, floor fillers, screen walls and walks are just to name a few. An apartment building, Torre de Valencia, just up from the heart of Madrid, was one of the inspection stops. This 28-story structure is located on the Avda de Menendez Pelayo and was designed by D. Jabier Carvajal Ferrer. It is being built by Construcciones Rodrigo, S.A. The manager and job superintendent were most gracious in showing the group the job as well as briefing them on the entire project concept. Members had a good chance to view methods common to Spain and to see equipment currently in use. In many it seemed like brick were being used as filler in mortar walls.
Wednesday, October 20th-In three sections, the group flew on Iberia Airlines to Malaga. The delightful "sun coast" with its highrise apartments and facinating coast line gave all a wonderful stay especially the ladies who found Torremolinos and Malaga to be a shopper's paradise. During the next four days members toured Granada, Marbella, Meja, and 90 persons flew over to Tangiers for a day.
Monday, October 25th-Up at the crack of dawn to get luggage down and aboard the transfer buses to Malaga Airport. Departure was a real sight the group set an all-time weight and piece record from Spain. With general dispatch and utter nonsense, things were handled in an organized, confused manner-so really no one knew what was going on. The transfer in Madrid did nothing to calm one's nerves, but after the 747 lifted off everyone leaned back for a relaxing journey home.
The approach into JFK was effortless, even though the weather outside was miserable. As the 747 touched the runway, everyone rose and gave out a loud, welcome-home cheer.
One of the most gratifying experiences of the whole trip was the manner in which the U.S. Customs handled the group upon arrival. From arrival at gate to leaving the customs area, not one of the group was delayed more than 35 minutes. Our thanks to TWA for a wonderful trip and to Jim and Ginny Tucker for taking time to handle the flight movement.
