Dr. James D. Colville, P.E., of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Maryland, has been appointed to the post of engineering consultant for the Masonry Institute of Maryland, according to R. W. Schlenker, executive director of the Institute. As engineering consultant, Dr. Colville will review the design of local masonry projects and assist in the development of commerical and industrial real estate with masonry.

Dr. Colville received his BSCE at Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind.; his MSCE at Purdue University; and his PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. He is a native of Scotland, and has served as research and development consultant to the National Association of Home Builders.

"The availability of Dr. Colville to the architectural and civil engineering professionals in Baltimore and surrounding area for project review illustrates an on-going effort on the part of the Masonry Institute of Maryland to secure the greatest efficiency in masonry design," says Bob Schlenker, executive director of the Institute. "In addition, we hope Dr. Colville's field exposure will also have the benefit of ultimately increasing the scope and qualifications of graduate civil engineers who receive their education at the University."

There were exactly 11 slices-no more, no less-an "inside" joke that drew an equally appreciative response from the banquet audience.
