Masonry Training in Ontario

George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto was the site for the course; the college helped "sell" Canada Manpower on underwriting the project, and provided facilities and personnel. Additional courses are planned for the fall-winter 1975-76, Mr. Fraser said. C.M.C.A. is participating in the training program through its local chapters in Ontario. The students were honored at a closing banquet, sponsored by the Masonry Industry Fund of Toronto, Local 2, and the Metro Mason Contractors, Inc. under the guidance of trustees, George Glancy of the Union and Frank Camisso of the association. This training is similar to the brick and block laying apprenticeship training in Ontario, and the C.M.C.A. sponsored Hope-Martini study of its successful application in British Columbia and to a limited degree, in New Brunswick.

Top student of the first course was Brent Heddlestone, who received a complete set of masons' tools from Doug MacLaren, chairman of the architectural trades division, George Brown College, on behalf of the Local 2 Industry Fund.
