Guess who has been appointed one of the ad agencies to handle marketing efforts in the U.S. for N.V. Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken of Endhoven, The Netherlands? One of them is Henry J. Kaufman & Associates, the Washington (D.C.) firm presently handling the IMI account. Kaufman will work in concert with the New York-based P.R. organization of Irving L. Strauss Associates. Philips, by the way, manufactures test and measuring instruments and has world-wide distribution with revenues exceeding $12 billion... The recent winner of the Minnesota Masonry Institute's 1977 Merit Award for Energy Conservation was the mason contracting firm of Eckhart Brothers...Medusa Cement Co. has announced the appointment of Robert B. Secrist as vice president of marketing...Robert E. Scifres has moved up to board chairman and chief executive officer of National Gypsum Co., Dallas, Texas. He succeeds William M. North, who retired after 36 years with the firm.


William Schams, Jr., president of St. Joseph's Equipment, Inc., La Crosse, Wis., has been elected a member of Massey-Ferguson's North American Industrial & Construction Machinery Distributor Council. He will represent distributors of MF industrial and construction machinery in the Midwest.. The architectural engineering/planning firm of Perkins & Will, Chicago, Ill., has announced the appointment of Kenneth M. Carswell as vice president-general manager of its Washington, D.C. office. Carswell formerly was vice president and project director of John Carl Warnecke & Associates in Washington...Precast/Schokbeton, Inc., manufacturer of concrete products, has expanded its professional sales engineering team with the appointment of James Buehrle and Allen E. Jones as sales engineers in the Detroit and Kalamazoo (Mich.) sales offices, respectively.


Holman Brick Co., Schaumburg, Ill., has appointed Randall H. Kirchhoff president... The boards of directors of Bechtel Power Corp. and Bechtel Incorporated have elected George Schulz vice chairman...Joe Weckesser, president of Weckesser Brick Co., Rochester, N.Y., has been elected president of the National Association of Brick Distributors...Seven new members have been elected to the board of directors of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). They are: Herbert A. Anderson, Duro-Test Corp.: Jane Butel, American Express Co.: Ralph E. McKelvey, the Timken Co.; Michael J. Miller, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation; Harry A. Paynter, Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association; L. West Shea, Industrial Truck Association and Material Handling Institute, and Roy P. Trowbridge, General Motors Corp.
