Granite-clad Building Wins Award
An elegant panelized cladding of Fiandre Ceramic Granite earned the new ITT Building in Aurora, Colo., a regional Award of Merit for new commercial construction given by the Ceramic Tile Distributors' Association of America. Located in the Southeast Commons development of Aurora, a Denver suburb, the building was designed by Pouw & Associates of Denver. Project architect was Joseph Poli.

"Ceramic tile is an ancient building material which Fiandre has taken to new heights to achieve a distinctive appearance," said Poli. The cladding is designed to make the building look different close-up compared to far away.

JCB Is Winner of Dig-Off
On its way to the title of Overall Winner, JCB's new 1400B backhoe-loader pulls away from the field in the 12 ft. trenching category of the '85 Dig-Off recently conducted by Detroit Testing Laboratory, Inc. Four journeyman operators rotated equally from machine to machine throughout the testing so that no one machine would benefit from an individual operator's skill. JCB's winning total of nearly 50 feet of trenching per hour was 26.7% better than the average of the second, third and fourth place finishers.
