Muth Named Entrepreneur of the Year

Peter Muth, chairman of ORCO Block Co., Inc., was named Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Los Angeles Region of Arthur Young and Inc. magazine at a recent awards ceremony. This year, the awards will be hosted by 28 Arthur Young offices across the country.

Those nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year were Los Angeles-area entrepreneurs whose ingenuity, hard work and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures. The 1989 program received 85 entries and honored 29 finalists in eight categories, including three finalists in the manufacturing category.

Founded in 1946, Stanton, Calif.-based ORCO Block is one of the nation's top 12 manufacturers of concrete masonry products and the number one seller of block in Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The company currently operates manufacturing facilities in Stanton, Riverside, Banning and Oceanside, and has just begun construction of plant number five near Perris.

Believing that it should be involved in the communities in which it operates, ORCO yearly commits five percent of its pre-tax profits to the support of charitable and community organizations.
