MCAA PAC Backed Candidates Win!

MCAA Member Terry Mulligan of Mulligan Masonry in Aurora, Illinois presented Majority Whip, Dennis Hastert (R-IL-14th) one of fifteen MCAA PAC checks. Hastert will play a critical role in shaping legislation as part of the Republican majority in the 105th Congress.

Paul Clements, II of Masonomics in Louisville, Kentucky presented Ann Northup an MCAA PAC check. Northup defeated incumbent Congressman Mike Ward (D-KY-3rd) and will become one of the 32 freshmen Congressmen sworn in on January 7th.

Twelve of the fifteen MCAA PAC backed candidates for Congress will be part of the majority in the 105th Congress which will be sworn in on January 7th. Three of the MCAA PAC supported candidates were freshmen Republicans who withstood an onslaught of union campaign finances targeted to oust the freshmen in the Republican controlled Congress. These candidates will play key roles in shaping policy in critical areas affecting mason contractors. Criteria established by the MCAA Legislative Committee to determine who receives a PAC contribution include the candidates position on regulatory reform and more specifically OSHA reform. In addition, the candidates position on other key issues such as tax relief and other pro small business issues play a determining factor.
