Young Mason
Represents Entrepreneural Spirit
Eighteen shear-old Salvatore Lucido of Shelby TWP, MI, is our Masonry Apprentice of the Month. Lucido is another hard-working young mason who epitomizes the entrepreneurial spirit of the masonry trade.
Lucido is finishing his senior year at Chippewa Valley High School where he attends school in the morning and performs vocational-related work in the afternoon. He often works with his Dad, Domenico, who emigrated from Italy when he was 19 years old and has been a bricklayer himself for 40 years. They frequently lay brick and stone on up-scale custom homes in the area. Living in Michigan, Lucido works

snow removal during the winter and skis when he can. During the summer months, he's usually found working with his Dad in his Dad's masonry construction business, Praiola's Construction.
Lucido competed in the national masonry contest held this past summer in Kansas City, Mo. in conjunction with the SkillsUSA - VICA National Leadership and Skills Conference.
Lucido says his goal is to "build and sell homes." As a result, he's considering additional schooling at a community college and pursuit of his builder's permit.
