DeWitt Brown Leadman Award is awarded each year to those industry individuals who exemplify the epitome of volunteer leadership. Many in our industry have dedicated hours of selfless service to the advancement of the masonry industry. Only a select few achieve the level of conviction to our industry to warrant this prestigious award.

President William McConnell presented the 2004 C. DeWitt Brown Leadman Award to Richard Lauber, President of the MCA of Greater Chicago. "Today, I am proud to present this award to an individual who has given a lifetime to building a stronger America. I say American because he not only has given decades to building our industry but he has given years of service to building his community," said McConnell.

Lauber was honored for his work on numerous MCAA committees for more than 25 years. He has been a staunch proponent of our national association even when others have doubted the value of our efforts. He has not only been a beacon of stewardship to our national association, he has also spent decades working for his local association serving as chairman of the negotiating committee; chairman of the promotional committee; and numerous labor relations and apprenticeship committees. He has represented his association on the ASTM and has served as president of his local chapter since 1993 where he has distinguished himself with two major accomplishments. The first was the landmark renegotiation of a 4 year labor contract 10 months prior to the expiration of the previous contract. Secondly, he was the driving force to combine numerous local union training centers into the number one training center in the U.S.

"Few are as deserving as this individual. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my distinct honor to present the C. DeWitt Brown Leadman Award to Richard Lauber, President of the MCA Greater Chicago," said McConnell.
