JLG Receives Record Number of Product Innovation Awards from Industry Publications

Words: Craig PaylorDuring the past few months JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company (NYSE:OSK), has received a record number of awards for product innovation from leading publications in the rental, construction, manufacturing and access industries. Included in the accolades are:
  • Two “Top 100 Products of 2008” awards from Construction Equipment,

  • “Product of the Year” award from Plant Engineering,

  • Two Gold awards, a Silver award and a Bronze award in Roads & Bridges’ “Contractor’s Choice Awards,” and

  • Recognition from Compact Equipment in their “2008 Innovations Showcase.”
Although JLG received more innovative product design awards in 2008 than ever before, we remain committed working with our customers to create new and improved products that will increase productivity and improve safety in the workplace.

In naming the JLG® G5-18A super compact telehandler and LiftPod® personal and portable aerial work platform as “Top 100 Products of 2008”, Construction Equipment stated, “We are committed to honoring products that represent new concepts, engineering evolution and healthy competition in the market.” Plant Engineering called the JLG LiftPod “the manufacturing industry standard for new product achievement” when naming it “Product of the Year.” When Compact Equipment included the JLG G5-18A telehandler in their “2008 Innovations Showcase” they stated that these products “highlight the best tools and equipment released in the compact equipment industry this past year.”

In their “2008 Innovative Product Awards,” Rental Equipment Register named JLG’s LiftPod personal and portable aerial work platform the Category Winner in “Aerial Lifts” and the Grand Award winner for most innovative product of 2008. They also named JLG’s AccuPlace® System with Ride Control Technology as their “Technology Enhancements” Category Winner.

Roads & Bridges announced the results of their annual “Contractor’s Choice Awards”, where, for the third year in a row, JLG products received the Gold award in the “Aerial Work Platforms” category. This year however, JLG received both the Gold and Silver awards in the “Aerial Work Platforms” category, plus the Gold and Bronze awards in the “Telehandlers” category.

JLG continued to garner accolades in Lift & Access’ 2008 “Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms” (LLEAP) awards where the JLG LiftPod was named the Gold award winner in the “Aerial Lifts” category, and JLG won both the Gold and Silver awards in the “Optional Equipment, Attachments & Accessories” category. The Gold award went to JLG’s ClearSky® Connected Asset Technology and the Silver was awarded to JLG’s AccuPlace System with Ride Control Technology.

"Awards recognize achievement, but we at JLG will not stop in developing new technologies and product innovations to help our customers maintain and grow their businesses. Forward thinking is what will keep JLG as the leader in the access industry," said Craig Paylor, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president of JLG Industries.
