Holcim sponsors employee driven community projects

The Holcim (US) Dundee facility is participating in a year-long community service initiative.
The Holcim (US) Dundee facility, located in Dundee, Michigan, is participating in a year-long community service initiative to mark the centennial anniversary of its parent company, Holcim Ltd. Holcim (US), one of the nation’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of cement and mineral components, is celebrating this 100-year anniversary by participating in Together for Communities, an initiative in which Holcim employees lead local volunteer projects.

As part of the Together for Communities initiative, employees at the Dundee facility have planned three community-specific projects to take place this summer, each addressing a particular need in the Dundee area. Employees assisted a local Ann Arbor senior with exterior trim painting and yard maintenance. They have volunteered in the Village of Dundee Mayfly Music Festival and have planted a Community Garden of Growth on the facility property.

“The Dundee projects exemplify the goals of Together for Communities,” said Bernard Terver, president and chief executive officer of Holcim (US). “Each project is well-suited to the area and further Holcim’s commitment to sustainability and community leadership.”

Together for Communities builds on the Holcim mission and extends the values that are essential to creating the highest quality products. Holcim Ltd hopes to engage as many of its 80,000 worldwide employees as possible to volunteer for one day in their community. Because Holcim recognizes employees have unique knowledge of their communities, each project is employee-led and geared toward local needs. Though each volunteer activity is driven by local needs, the initiative is a global one.
